Job summary

Wonderbrands in Calgary is seeking a Maintenance Millwright to join the maintenance team. You will perform maintenance, install, examine, replace or repair components and support production uptime across equipment and facilities.

The ideal candidate brings millwright certification, 3+ years in food manufacturing, and strong mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic knowledge. Lathes, milling machines and welding skills are required. Teamwork and safety are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Ticketed in the Millwright Trade.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in high-speed manufacturing (food preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Proven experience with lathes, milling machines and welding equipment (ARC, TIG, MIG).
  • Excellent problem solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Read equipment manuals and blueprints to install, troubleshoot and repair.
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Inspect equipment to identify irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective components.
  • Operate lathes and milling machines to fabricate parts during overhaul or setup.
  • Assemble equipment prior to installation using hand/power tools and welding equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance safety, efficiency and reliability.
  • Complete work orders per PM/CM schedules.
  • Comply with safety, GMP and environmental policies.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.

Full-time Shift: Afternoon/Night (Rotates every 4 weeks) – Continental (10 – 12 hour shifts)

Licensed Millwright Wage: $46.37 plus bonus and $1.50 night shift premium, overtime available + quarterly bonus pay

Position: Maintenance Millwright

The Millwright is a member of the maintenance team and as such, participates in team efforts to achieve assigned department goals; works closely with other team members to ensure all maintenance activities are completed on time, according to SOPs and regulatory requirements; and provides support to other roles within the maintenance team.

Your primary responsibilities includes performing maintenance, install, examine, replace or repair components; troubleshoot mechanical systems and building services. In addition, you will provide technical support to production teams in supporting production uptime, ensuring optimal functioning of the production equipment and facilities. This position provides critical support in reducing production down time, maintaining overhaul programs, preventive maintenance of equipment, and effective troubleshooting and repair of equipment. Our production equipment helps us bake delicious products for our customers every day, and you’ll be in charge of making sure the lines are ready to run!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Complete Work Orders according to PM and CM schedules
  • Comply with all applicable legislative and Bakery food safety, health and safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • Ensure that work area is clean of debris and hazards at all times
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and internal LOTO policy
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required
  • The Team Member is required to comply with all Food Safety, Quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements at all times.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Ticketed in the Millwright Trade
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a high speed manufacturing environment (Food manufacturing is highly preferred)
  • High aptitude with Mechanical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems (Required)
  • Proven track record working with Lathes, Milling Machines and Welding Equipment (ARC, TIG, MIG)
  • Above average problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs
  • Thrives in a team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Excel, Outlook)
  • Focuses on continuous self-improvement
