Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Milton facility is seeking a licensed Industrial Millwright 433A to join the maintenance team. You will troubleshoot, repair and improve production equipment, rotor and boiler systems, and support preventative maintenance programs to keep a busy plant running smoothly.

The role requires a high school diploma, Canadian manufacturing experience, physical fitness, and the ability to work a 4-on/4-off rotating day/night schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• PLC programming and String Control experience.
• Electrical experience is an asset.
• 3-5 years working in a Canadian manufacturing environment.
• Technical knowledge required.
• Physically fit.
• Able to work rotating shifts: 4 days on/4 days off rotating day/night.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot plant equipment and determine maintenance requirements; root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
• Respond to breakdowns on plant equipment, facilities and buildings; assess temporary vs permanent solutions based on production needs.
• Maintain preventative maintenance programs; ensure regular checks and lubrication on all equipment.
• Maintain operation of boiler systems, heating, steam and energy supply.
• Assist in minor electrical repairs and safe reset.
• Assist with installation of plant equipment and occasionally assist in equipment design.
• Identify suitable fits for various services and know antifriction bearings.
• Be able to handle heavy equipment safely and have knowledge of foundation work.
• Assist in developing the plant occupational health and safety program.
• Support a 24/7 operation.

The Smurfit Westrock Milton facility is looking for a licensed Industrial Millwright 433A to work as part of the maintenance team. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for the preventative, predictive and troubleshooting of production equipment.

All successful applicants must be able to provide a satisfactory criminal background check and pre-employment medical.

Job Duties:

• Troubleshoot problems on plant equipment and facilitates and determines maintenance requirements. Ability to go to root cause of problems. Perform proper follow-up on repairs to implement long term solutions;
• Responds to breakdowns on plant equipment, facilities and buildings. Ability to determine the need for temporary solutions or permanent solutions based on time constraints given by production;
• Maintains preventative maintenance programs and ensures regular checks and lubrication on all equipment;
• Maintains operation of the boiler systems, heating, steam and energy supply;
• Assist in minor electrical repairs and reset safely;
• Assists with the installation of plant equipment and occasionally assists in equipment design;
• Know what fits are required for various services, including antifriction bearings and be able to make such fits;
