Davie in Canada is seeking a meticulous millwright to install, assemble and commission mechanical systems on ships. You will read plans, perform pressure tests, and handle mechanical equipment aboard vessels as part of a skilled team.
The role involves shifts across day/evening/weekend schedules with a 4-day or 3-day week plus a frigate premium; relocation support is available for qualified personnel. A DEP in related trades and security clearance are required.
Are you meticulous, curious, and passionate about heavy machinery? At Davie, you will participate in assembling strategic components that power the country’s largest ships. As millwright, you will be responsible for installing, assembling, adjusting, and fastening mechanical components related to piping, ventilation, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), marine mechanics, and metal cabinetry systems. You will read plans and work orders, handle workshop assembly, perform pressure tests, adjust mechanical equipment, operate forklifts or trucks, and actively participate in the commissioning of systems aboard ships.
You must be available for all shifts. While we consider your schedule preferences (day, evening, weekend) when creating schedules, they cannot be guaranteed.
We offer a relocation allowance for unionized production and maintenance employees: up to $2,500 for a single person or couple, and $4,000 for a family. Full details will be discussed during the hiring process.
