Job description

Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Are you meticulous, curious, and passionate about heavy machinery? At Davie, you will participate in assembling strategic components that power the country’s largest ships. Even great teams need a break – our shipyard will be closed for a summer shutdown from July 18 to August 2.

Responsibilities
  • Install, assemble, adjust, and fasten mechanical components related to piping, ventilation, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), marine mechanics, and metal cabinetry systems.
  • Read plans and work orders and handle workshop assembly.
  • Perform pressure tests, adjust mechanical equipment, operate forklifts or trucks.
  • Actively participate in the commissioning of systems aboard ships.
Compensation
  • $34.64/hour for the first 1,000 hours, then $38.49/hour.
  • Overtime paid at double time.
Work Schedule
  • Day: 4‑day workweek, 10 hours per day.
  • Evening: 4‑day workweek, 10 hours per day + $2.00/hour premium.
  • Weekend: 3‑day workweek, 12 hours per day + $2.50/hour premium.
  • Frigate premium (military vessel): $1.25/hour regardless of shift.

You must be available for all shifts. While we consider schedule preferences when creating schedules, they cannot be guaranteed.
