Davie, Canada's largest shipyard, is seeking a Shipbuilder to support trades teams in reading drawings, installing insulation, painting, cabling, and material handling. You will operate forklifts, maintain cleanliness, and report any non-conformities to ensure quality.
Relocation assistance is available and comprehensive benefits apply. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, an ASP card (or DEP), and may require security clearance.
Even great teams need a break! Our shipyard will be closed for a summer shutdown from July 18 to August 2. See you soon!
As a Shipbuilder, you’ll support the trades teams and keep the yard moving by reading and interpreting drawings and work orders; assisting with painting, installing insulation, pre‑cutting cabling, and driving trucks; performing metal finishing such as grinding and making, cleaning, and polishing bevels; maintaining housekeeping standards in tanks, vessel interiors, shops, trailers, and washrooms while handling waste; and managing the handling and movement of materials (cement, sand, snow, grass, water, and more). You will also ensure quality control by reporting any non‑conformities, set up and maintain tools and equipment, operate forklifts and other mobile equipment, and carry out any other related duties assigned by your supervisor, in full compliance with our quality standards.
You must be available for all shifts. While we consider your schedule preferences (day, evening, weekend) when creating schedules, they cannot be guaranteed.
At Davie, we know that moving is a big change. To welcome you to the region, we offer a relocation allowance for unionized production and maintenance employees: up to $2,500 for a single person or couple, and $4,000 for a family. Full details will be discussed during the hiring process.
To maintain the quality of our operations, you must have one of the following qualifications:
