Job summary

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) seeks to fill a full-time Employment and Training Counsellor in the Métis Employment & Training Department at the St. Laurent, MB office.

The role focuses on assessing clients, guiding them through MET programs, and providing ongoing counselling to support employment goals. Candidates should have post-secondary education in social sciences, two years of counselling experience, and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Social Sciences or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of employment/career counselling experience.
• Experience delivering presentations/workshops to client groups.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and case management systems.
• Ability to build relationships with diverse partners, clients and coworkers.
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture and MMF programs is an asset.
• Valid Manitoba driver's license and reliable vehicle preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments to determine employment needs and MET service eligibility.
• Assess client needs through interviews and determine goals and readiness.
• Provide job search assistance and labour market information.
• Develop employment and training plans with clients and match MET programs.
• Provide ongoing counselling during employment and training activities.
• Prepare cash flows and financial documentation for client files.
• Research labour market information and access job postings.
• Establish networks with community resources and training institutions.
