Job summary

The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is recruiting for a METI-S Advisor in Edmonton to support Métis clients in achieving sustainable employment. You will conduct assessments, manage interventions, and guide clients through education programs and funding options while maintaining thorough records.

The role requires strong communication, cultural awareness, and the ability to work both independently and with community partners in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Humanities, Career Development, Social Services or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role related to employment services.
  • Knowledge of education programs/institutions and community resources providing support to clients with barriers.
  • Experience or exposure networking with industry, employers and community partners.

Responsibilities

  • Build rapport with clients to assess strengths, needs, career goals, and barriers to employment.
  • Guide clients through available services, funding options, and eligibility for programs.
  • Help clients research labour market trends, set career goals, and develop action plans.
  • Provide ongoing support during interventions and track progress and outcomes.
  • Help clients find employment after interventions and monitor outcomes.
  • Coach clients on job search and interview skills.
  • Maintain accurate client data in the system and ensure confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with Métis organizations and employers to promote services; participate in planning and events.

Education
