Job summary

Umicore Group in Markham, Ontario, is seeking a Senior Finance Leader to guide the finance team and drive accurate reporting, budgeting and cost control in a manufacturing setting.

You will oversee cash, forecasting, inventory controls and ERP systems (SAP), partnering with operations to improve profitability and strategic planning while ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial management and supervisory experience.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze internal financial reports and provide meaningful recommendations to support business decisions.

• Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting process; monitor budget-to-actual performance and provide variance analysis.
• Oversee inventory counts and inventory valuation and ensure financial controls for inventory management.
• Support purchasing, facility management, and cross-functional teams with financial insights and analysis.

Your Key Accountabilities

• Lead and develop the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Prepare and analyze internal financial reports and provide meaningful recommendations to support business decisions.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiencies, and enhance overall productivity.
• Ensure accurate product and service costing to support business profitability.

Budgeting & Planning

• Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
• Monitor budget-to-actual performance and provide variance analysis to management.
• Recommend corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company credit policies to minimize bad debt exposure.
• Manage cash resources to optimize liquidity, reduce financing costs, and maximize investment returns.
• Oversee the Trading Department to ensure adherence to hedging policies and mitigate financial risk.

Inventory & Operational Support

• Oversee monthly inventory counts and inventory reconciliations.
• Ensure the accuracy of inventory valuation and financial controls related to inventory management.
• Support reporting requirements and troubleshoot issues within SAP and other business systems.

Leadership & Business Support

• Provide leadership and guidance to finance staff and cross-functional teams.
• Oversee purchasing, facility management, and customer service functions as required.
• Support business growth initiatives and sales activities through financial insight and analysis.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Who we are looking for

Education & Professional Designation

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial management and supervisory experience.
• Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and inventory controls.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Strong financial and credit analysis capabilities.
• Strategic and conceptual thinker with excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Results‑oriented with a strong sense of accountability.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven leadership and team development abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

Additional Information

• This is a replacement position.
• Salary Range: $110,200 – $134,000 annuallycommensurate with experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
