Job summary

Magna International’s Cosma division in Brampton is seeking a fabrication experienced welder to perform welding and cutting operations for repair and fabrication projects. You will read engineered drawings, operate drill presses and torches, and fabricate tools while following safety rules and ISO procedures.

The role requires 5+ years of fabrication experience, knowledge of welding mild steels, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fabrication experience
• Automotive tooling experience an asset
• Experience in welding mild steels
• Knowledge and ability to operate various machines, tools and related equipment
• Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings is required
• Good communication skills
• Must have own tools
• Strong Mechanical Aptitude
• Trade certification or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Perform sequence of various welding and cutting operations for a wide variety of repair and fabrication work
• Fit, align and weld various components
• Design, modify and fabricate special tools and equipment
• Operate various machines, tools and related equipment (drill press, torches, hand tools) etc.
• Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner and know how to properly lock out all energy sources, including stored energy
• Follow all safety rules, standards and procedures at all times in all areas
• Know what types of Personal Protective Equipment are required for the jobs in your area and always use them properly
• Ensure that your work area is kept clean, tidy and organized at all times to prevent accidents and produce good quality products
• Report all unusual circumstances and actively participate in and support Continuous Improvements
• Follow all ISO Standard Operating Procedures to ensure world class quality products are supplied to our customers
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned
