Job summary

Cosma International in Milton, Ontario seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead mid-sized projects, design and improve assembly processes, and drive smart manufacturing initiatives. You will work across Operations, Quality, Maintenance and IT/OT to optimize safety, quality and productivity.

The role requires 3+ years in lean manufacturing, CAD and GD&T proficiency, and strong project management skills. Occasional off-shift work and travel may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 3+ years of related experience in a lean or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge and CAD drawings interpretation.
  • Practical experience with project management, costing and quoting.
  • Hands-on problem solving and ability to implement solutions on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mid-sized engineering projects from planning through launch, with increasing ownership and autonomy.
  • Design, build and improve assembly processes for full perimeter frames, front and rear cradles, and rear twist axles.
  • Identify and implement smart manufacturing opportunities, including AI, robotics, machine vision, IoT and digital workflows.
  • Use production data, time and motion studies, cycle time analysis and line balancing to remove bottlenecks.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, IT/OT, suppliers and customers to improve safety, ergonomics and productivity.
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, quotes, and business cases for tooling and technology investments.
  • Oversee tooling and equipment design, build, installation and production readiness.

This role combines hands on manufacturing engineering with the opportunity to help bring new technology into a high volume automotive plant. Automotive assembly experience is an asset.Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to read and interpret CAD drawings. AutoCAD experience is an asset.Practical experience with project management, costing and quoting.Mechanically inclined, with a practical understanding of equipment, tooling and fixtures, and comfort troubleshooting them directly on the floor.Strong hands on problem solving, ownership and the ability to turn ideas into implemented solutions.Curiosity and confidence learning new technology.
