Job summary

Magna International - Cosma is seeking a skilled Toolmaker for our Mississauga tooling operations. You will prepare, maintain and verify tooling, troubleshoot tool issues, and support engineering changes to ensure smooth production.

You will mentor apprentices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires 5 years in transfer stamping, proficiency with CNC tools, GD&T and SPC, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

  • Ontario C of Q Toolmaker with 5 years in transfer stamping is required.
  • Able to communicate in English (verbal and written).
  • Tool Room equipment including overhead cranes and die maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain tooling according to requirements.
  • Identify day-to-day tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Clean tooling to ensure on-time delivery and schedule adherence.
  • Ensure tooling safety and production readiness per PM process.
  • Escalate to Leader when assignments cannot be completed as planned.
  • Support engineering changes and spare parts maintenance.
  • Prepare and test tools by layout, setup, and machining.
  • May design/make prototype tools and templates with BOM.
  • Verify conformance of tools by measuring dimensions and clearances.
  • Set up and monitor tools for first-time tryouts.
  • Assist in developing the team and mentoring toolmaker apprentices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
