Job summary

Savaria Corporation in Canada designs, engineers and manufactures mobility products and accessibility solutions. The company is seeking a Metal Buffer/Grinder on dayshift 7:00 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime, to support electrical sub-assembly and final assembly of Elevator models. You will work with grinders and files to polish and clean metal parts, prepare for secondary processes, and document work orders.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 2-3 years assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read safety rules and operating/maintenance instructions in English.
• Proficient with hand tools including grinders and files.

Responsibilities

• Perform metal buffing and grinding operations on components.
• Polish/clean aluminum/brass and prepare for secondary process.
• Create packing slips and record completed work orders.
• Maintain clean work area and follow safety procedures.
• Assist with movement of parts and basic quality checks.

Savaria designs, engineers and manufactures products to help people gain personal mobility. We make a range of accessibility lifts and wheelchair accessible vans. We also produce elevators- from basic to luxurious - for select commercial applications and for home use.

We are currently recruiting for a Metal Buffer/ Grinder working on our dayshift which operates from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, with some occasional overtime

Summary:To perform various duties of electrical sub-assembly and final assembly of Elevator models.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Must be familiar with hand tools including Grinders, Files and other tools to clean metal parts
• Position requires the operator to polish/clean aluminum/brass material and pack using for secondary process
• Creates packing slip for secondary process and keeps record of completed work orders.
• Education and Experience: High School Diploma and 2-3 years assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Other Skills and Abilities: Should possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Physical Demands: Lifting up to 35 lbs. unassisted is required from time to time

The work environment of this job has the employee regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and is exposed to vibration from grinder. The employee works in a plant manufacturing facility that is regulated by heat in the cold months and flow through air in the warm months.
