Savaria is recruiting a Metal Buffer/Grinder to support on-site assembly of Elevator models. The role emphasizes hand-tool use, polishing and packing of metal parts, and adherence to safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma and 2–3 years of assembly experience in manufacturing. English-reading ability is required; some overtime may be available.

• Must be familiar with hand tools including Grinders, Files and other tools to clean metal parts.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions in English.
• Mathematical skills: basic arithmetic including fractions and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical sub-assembly and final assembly of Elevator models.
• Polish/clean aluminum/brass material and pack for secondary process.
• Create packing slips for secondary process and keep records of completed work orders.
• Lift up to 35 lbs unassisted and work with team to handle heavier items.
• Follow safety rules and work in a team-oriented environment.

We are currently recruiting for a Metal Buffer/ Grinder working on our dayshift which operates from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, with some occasional overtime.

Summary:

To perform various duties of electrical sub-assembly and final assembly of Elevator models.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must be familiar with hand tools including Grinders, Files and other tools to clean metal parts
• Position requires the operator to polish/clean aluminum/brass material and pack using for secondary process
• Creates packing slip for secondary process and keeps record of completed work orders.
• Education and Experience: High School Diploma and 2-3 years assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Other Skills and Abilities: Should possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Physical Demands: Lifting up to 35 lbs. unassisted is required from time to time

The work environment of this job has the employee regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and is exposed to vibration from grinder. The employee works in a plant manufacturing facility that is regulated by heat in the cold months and flow through air in the warm months.
