Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) is hiring for a part-time position in the Outpatient Pharmacy at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The role involves ordering, receiving, pricing items, and performing merchandising, cashier duties, and promotions to enhance patient care.

Shifts are Monday to Friday with a casual status and a closing date of September 14, 2026. The successful candidate will have Grade 12, merchandising experience, pharmacy knowledge, strong communication and organizational skills,

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or recognized equivalent.
• One year merchandising experience, preferably in healthcare.
• Six months technical experience in a retail/community Pharmacy; preferred.
• Very good verbal and written communication skills.
• Very good interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Pharmacy operations, practices and regulations.
• Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
• Compliance with confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ordering, receiving and pricing prescription and non-prescription items for multi-site outpatient pharmacies.
• Merchandising and cashier functions.
• Organizing revenue-generating promotions to attract customers.
• Coordinating the return of stale-dated merchandise; communicating with Pharmacy staff.
• Performing technical functions in support of the Pharmacy.
• Carrying out cross-functional duties within scope of authority.
• Assisting with packaging and sending prescription deliveries.
• Standing long hours and lifting items over 15 lbs.

Duties

• Responsible for maintaining responsibility for ordering, receiving, and pricing prescription and non-prescription items for multi-site outpatient pharmacies including the Gift and Health Shop
• Performs merchandising and cashier functions
• Organizing revenue-generating promotions to attract customer interest
• Coordinating the return of stale-dated merchandises and other products; communicating with other Pharmacy personnel
• Performing technical functions in support of the Pharmacy
• Performing cross-functional duties, within scope of authority
• Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
• Requires lifting items, such as cases of nutritional products greater than 15lbs which are sold by the case, merchandising/stocking cases of beverages
• Requires standing 95% of the shift
• Requires repeated bending to get prescription orders
• Requires assisting with packaging and sending prescription deliveries
• Requires compression stockings fitting for patients and/or customers and coordination of compression stockings sales

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or recognized equivalent
• One (1) year related merchandising experience preferably in the healthcare industry
• Six months technical experience in a retail/community Pharmacy; preferred
• Very good verbal and written communication skills
• Very good interpersonal skills
• Very good organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of Pharmacy operations, practices and regulations
• Knowledge of applicable legislation i.e. Health Professions Regulations Act, etc.
• Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) requirements
• Compliance with established confidentiality requirements
• Satisfactory attendance
