Job summary

The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton are partnered to provide high-quality transfusion medicine testing at the Charlton Campus in Hamilton Downtown.

This regular, full-time role requires certification and active CMLTO registration, with recent transfusion medicine experience and strong communication and teamwork skills. Time will be spent performing serological testing, antibody investigations, quality control, inventory management, and

Qualifications

• Medical Laboratory Technologist Certification (Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences) or equivalent.
• Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
• Recent Transfusion Medicine experience (within the last 2 years) required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• carrying out quality control and quality assurance in Transfusion Practice
• inventory control for blood products
• preparation and storage of blood products
• appropriate utilization of the Laboratory Information System in Transfusion Medicine

Unit Summary

The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is a collaborative program funded and operated jointly by Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Josephs Hospital. The Program is committed to change and innovation through education service and research to bring the highest quality science into healthcare for the benefit of the community and to participate in the clinical application and interpretation of the science.

Position Summary

In accordance with the vision mission values and goals of the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) and those of St. Joseph’s Healthcare you will be responsible for performing a variety of Transfusion Medicine related tests and procedures.

Qualifications
