Job summary

Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ontario, is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join the Core Lab team. Regular full-time position with flexible shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, reporting to the Laboratory - Core Lab.

The role requires current CMLTO registration and core laboratory experience, with strong knowledge of clinical chemistry, hematology and transfusion medicine, and the ability to perform testing, QC and instrument maintenance.

Qualifications

• Medical Laboratory Technologist with current CMLTO registration required.
• Recent Core Laboratory experience preferred.
• Knowledge in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology and Transfusion Medicine.
• Ability to perform testing, calibration, quality control and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, calibration, quality control and maintenance procedures on reagents and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve instrument issues in accordance with policies.
• Prepare and maintain accurate laboratory records and reports.

Qualifications

Position Summary:

• Medical Laboratory Technologist with current CMLTO registration required.
• Recent experience in a Core Laboratory setting required.
• Strong working knowledge of Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Medicine required.
• Ability to perform testing, calibration, quality control and maintenance procedures on reagents and equipment including troubleshooting, in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and standards.
• Preference will be given to candidates with recent related continuing education or equivalent.
• Meditech Client Server LIS experience an asset.
• Basic computer knowledge including keyboarding skill and an ability to work in MS Windows based environment.
• Good knowledge of hospital and laboratory safety and compliance.
• Good problem solving, analytical, organizational, and continuous improvement skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment
• Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required
