Interior Health is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Medical Laboratory Department at Kootenay Lake Regional Hospital in Nelson, BC. The role includes drawing blood, preparing specimens, and performing routine tests in a fast-paced setting.

• Take blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for analysis.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and distribute specimens to relevant departments.
• Enter data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and perform related clerical duties.
• May perform ECG testing as required.

About The Job

The Medical Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of duties within the Laboratory such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to Laboratory departments and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties. They shall also perform ECG testing as required.

This is a Relief Full Time (1.00) opportunity until the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be scheduled Sunday to Thursday days and evenings.
