Job summary

Interpro Pipe & Steel Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to oversee installation, repair, and upkeep of mechanical systems.

You will lead the maintenance team, plan preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize machinery performance to minimize downtime. The ideal candidate holds a mechanical degree or journeyman certification with 5 years in maintenance and 2–5 years in supervision, plus knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, LOTO, blueprints, and P&ID.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical field or accredited apprenticeship/Journeyman; 5 years in mechanical maintenance.
• 2–5 years supervisory or lead experience; unionized environment preferred.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatics, pressure vessels, motorized drives.
• Proficient in blueprint reading, P&ID, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and schedule maintenance staff activities.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical machinery, equipment, and systems.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards, defects, or necessary repairs.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance, training programs and schedules to enhance equipment reliability and safety.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
• Assisting in procuring, organizing, and inventorying parts and materials needed for repairs.
• Communicate and collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance tasks and minimize operational disruptions.
• Provide training, guidance, and performance management for maintenance team members.
• Document maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and generate technical reports.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and coordinate emergency repairs.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor oversees the installation, repair, and upkeep of mechanical systems and leads the maintenance team to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and compliance. This role involves planning and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and optimizing machinery performance to minimize downtime. This position reports to the General Maintenance Supervisor. Interpro Pipe + Steel is committed to maintaining and promoting a safe, healthy and injury-free environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in the mechanical field, or a completed accredited apprenticeship/ Journeyman; 5 years of experience in a mechanical maintenance role and 2-5 years' supervisory or lead experience
• Experience leading in unionized environment is preferred
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatics, pressure vessels, motorized drive systems
• Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Procedures as to safely isolate and secure equipment during maintenance or repair
• Proficient in blueprint reading, P&ID and troubleshooting of mechanical operations of equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and personnel scheduling
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Must be available and flexible to be on call and work weekends when required
• Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions
