Job summary

CenterLine (Windsor) Limited is seeking an experienced Mechanical Machine Tool Builder to assemble and commission tools and machines to blueprint specifications, using work instructions and part lists. This role reports to a Mechanical Build Supervisor.

You will machine, fit, and assemble components, operate manual lathes and small mills, and contribute to robotic work cell projects while ensuring quality and safety. The company leads in welding equipment design and manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School Diploma required.
  • Mold/tool assembly or tool maintenance experience required.
  • Solid understanding of welding and metal working equipment is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to travel in Canada, USA and Mexico required.

Responsibilities

  • Machine, fit, and assemble component parts and precision tooling, with a focus on quality, accuracy, and timeliness, to build special-purpose machinery, robotic cells, and factory automation projects.
  • Coordinate activities involved in mechanical build, bench assembly, floor assembly, and integration of robotic work cells, ensuring quality products are built safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Set up and operate machine tools, including manual lathes and small mills, applying knowledge of mechanical layouts to support the assembly team.
  • Attend project related meetings and provide documented status updates weekly.
  • Perform floor assembly according to floor plan layout and provide tooling to other departments to meet schedule.

What we’re looking for
MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Machine, fit, and assemble component parts and precision tooling, with a focus on quality, accuracy, and timeliness, to build special-purpose machinery, robotic cells, and factory automation projects.

  • Ability to lead and manage projects ranging from small to large in scope and from medium to high in complexity, or willingness and ability to develop these skills through training, coaching, and practical experience.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Willingness to work collaboratively in a team environment with mechanical assembly personnel, pipe fitters, electricians, programmers, and other departments to successfully complete project in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Preview projects at customer site to gain knowledge for planning purposes (i.e. design, install, subcontractors).
  • Attend project related meetings.
  • Provide documented project status weekly updates.
  • Ensure that all print updates are completed.
  • Execute prototypes to ensure fit, function, and manufacturability.
  • Perform floor assembly according to floor plan layout, assembling the job in a safe and proper sequence in accordance with established procedures, and provide other departments with the tooling required to complete their tasks according to schedule.
What you need to succeed
  • Secondary School Diploma required.
  • Mold assembly, tool assembly or tool maintenance experience required.
  • A solid understanding of the functionality of welding and metal working equipment is an asset.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Ability to travel in Canada, USA, and Mexico, required.

In addition to a competitive salary and benefits, employees will work in a clean, air-conditioned plant, receive overtime pay after 40 hours and per diem if scheduled for out-of-town travel.
Wage Range: $26.00 - $52.00 / hour – commensurate with experience.
