Job summary

UBC's Power Electronic Lab in Vancouver is seeking a Mechanical Engineer pursuing a MASc to design and implement mechanical systems for our power electronics platforms.

You will develop prototypes, test production-ready products, and collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers while participating in a MASc program at UBC. This role offers exposure to green energy projects and state-of-the-art equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in power electronics or a related industry.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL Multiphysics, Abaqus).
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping (3D Printing) and high-volume production methods (injection molding, extrusion, casting, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Openness to learn and take on new skills.

Mechanical Engineer / MASc

Vancouver (UBC), Canada

We are seeking a talented andexperienced mechanical engineer to join our power electronics lab. In thisrole, you will be responsible for designing and implementing mechanical systemsand components for our power electronic platforms while enrolling in a Master’sprogram at the University of British Columbia. During this time, you will be developing and honing a diverse set of skills in mechanical and electricalengineering for a wide spectrum of exciting projects with green energyapplications.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze mechanicalsystems and components for power electronics applications
  • Develop and test prototypes andproduction-ready products
  • Collaborate with across-functional team of electrical, mechanical, and software engineers
Requirements
