Job summary

Placements24 partners with a Kimberley-based manufacturer to hire a Mechanical Engineer focused on optimizing manufacturing processes. This hands-on role requires working directly with production machinery to boost efficiency, quality, and safety on the shop floor.

You will analyze data, design upgrades, maintain documentation, and collaborate with maintenance and production teams to implement changes that meet safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
  • Proficiency with CAD software for designing machine parts and systems.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, automation and material handling.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for efficiency, cost and quality improvements.
  • Design, develop and implement new mechanical systems and upgrades for production equipment.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including P&IDs, equipment manuals and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with production staff and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all solutions comply with safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed improvements.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to focus on optimizing manufacturing processes at their facility in Kimberley . This role is essential for improving the efficiency, quality, and safety of production lines through sound mechanical engineering principles and innovative solutions. You will work hands-on with machinery, analyze production data, and implement modifications to enhance operational performance. This is an on-site position requiring direct engagement with manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
