Job summary

6ixDesign Architecture + Engineering Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support building projects from load calculations through permit submission and construction documents.

You will run load calculations, size systems, produce drawings, and participate in coordination meetings with in-house and external teams under supervision of senior licensed engineers. Qualifications

• 1–2 years of professional mechanical/building services design experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng. not required).
• Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code Parts 6 & 7, SB-10/SB-12, ASHRAE, CSA B149, NFPA, and municipal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform HVAC load calculations, sizing equipment, and designing air distribution and hydronic systems.
• Design domestic water, sanitary, storm, and venting systems per Ontario Building Code Part 7.
• Coordinate sprinkler and standpipe design with code compliance and architectural/structural elements.
• Ensure designs meet energy/code requirements (SB-10/SB-12, ASHRAE, Toronto Green Standard).
• Develop mechanical drawings, schematics, equipment schedules, and specifications in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Prepare mechanical calculations that are clear and review-ready.
• Assemble mechanical permit packages and respond to examiner comments.
• Support retrofit, addition, and system replacement projects.
