Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Kimberley. You will concept, design, and develop innovative mechanical products and systems, collaborating from ideation to production.

The role involves designing components, preparing drawings and BOMs, and performing basic analyses, with a hybrid work setup and opportunities for growth within a supportive engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Perform basic stress and thermal analysis to validate design concepts.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Assist in the testing and validation of prototypes and new product designs.
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions and problem-solving initiatives within the engineering department.
