Job summary

Pembina West Co-op is seeking a Meat Manager for the Mayerthorpe Food Store to drive profitability and public awareness of our Meat department. You will lead the Meat team, work with the Food Store Manager, and partner with the Food Team to address operational needs while upholding safety, quality and service standards.

The role requires 3+ years of management experience in retail or meat, strong leadership, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 3+ years relevant management experience in retail/food, especially Meat.
• Excellent planning, organizational and prioritization skills.
• Ability to identify performance measures and take corrective actions; strong coaching/mentoring.
• Strong leadership with a focus on employee engagement and team motivation.
• Strong computer skills including Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to adapt to new technology.
• Excellent customer service, both internal and external.
• High integrity and work ethic.
• Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing.
• Flexibility and interpersonal skills to work in a diverse environment.
• Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Build public awareness and profitability of the Meat department.
• Identify financial and operational deficiencies and correct them with the store team.
• Work with Food Store Manager and Food Team to ensure optimal Meat operations.
• Lead by example with strong coaching and engagement of staff.
• Ensure safety, quality and customer service standards are met.
• Collaborate with Controllers, HR and Loss Prevention as needed.

Pembina West Co-op is recruiting for a Meat Manager at the Food Store in Mayerthorpe, AB.

What you’ll do:

The Meat Manager will focus on building public awareness and profitability of our Meat. This individual will identify areas of financial and operational concern and will work with our food store management team to correct these deficiencies by demonstrating day-to-day behaviours and actions that align with and strengthen the Co‑operative’s vision, mission, values, brand, and a focus on safety.

The Meat Manager is part of the Food Team and reports directly to the Food Store Manager. The Meat Manager will work in concert with the Food Team, Controller, Human Resource’s, and Loss Prevention Managers to ensure the optimal operation of the Meat.

Who are you:

• 3+ years relevant management experience; strong knowledge of retail, food, or Meat in particular
• Superior planning, organizational and prioritization skills
• Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance, strong coaching, and mentoring abilities.
