Job summary

The Root Cellar in Victoria, BC is seeking a Meat Clerk to join our Chop Shop Meat Market. You will help with department cleaning, prep ingredients, wrap and rotate stock, and maintain high quality, fresh, and attractively presented products.

Reliable, safety-conscious team player who can lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and start shifts at 6:00 am. Prior retail/customer service is a plus; training is available.

Qualifications

• Previous retail/customer service experience is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person with the right attitude.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50lbs, and work in a cool environment.
• Willingness to start shifts early, around 6:00 am.

Responsibilities

• Ensure product quality, freshness, and presentation meet our standards.
• Follow all workplace and food safety policies and procedures.
• Clean floors, counters, worktables, trays, and equipment.
• Prepare, wrap, weigh, label, and price meat & seafood products.
• Stock displays to maintain adequate product levels.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a Meat Clerk to join our Root Cellar team! As a Meat Clerk, you will be responsible for various duties include the cleaning and organization of the department, prepping ingredients for our many in-house products, and wrapping and rotating stock for our displays. Our Chop Shop Meat Market offers a high-quality selection of locally sourced fresh and cured meats and delicious value-added items made in-house using the freshest ingredients from our store.

• Ensure that product quality, freshness, and presentation meet our high standards.
• Follow all workplace and food safety policies and procedures.
• Clean floors, counters, worktables, trays, and equipment.
• Prepare, wrap, weigh, label, and price various meat & seafood products.
• Stock displays to ensure adequate product levels in the department.
