Job summary

The Root Cellar in Victoria BC is seeking a Full Time Produce Shift Supervisor who loves fresh, local produce and leading a team. You will oversee daily operations in the produce department, delegate tasks, train staff, and ensure top-notch customer service while upholding store standards.

You will manage product rotation, merchandising, inventory, and displays to maximize freshness and minimize loss, with shifts from 5:00am to 1:30pm or 1:30pm to 10:00pm.

Qualifications

• Retail supervisory experience in grocery or produce required.
• Strong customer-service skills and product knowledge.
• Leadership mindset with the ability to motivate a team.
• Physically able to stand long shifts and lift 25–50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing and developing staff per policies.
• Merchandise produce to maximize sales and keep display appealing.
• Control rotation and manage floor displays to minimize losses.
• Maintain inventory levels and prevent product loss.

THE ROLE

We are currenting seeking a Full Time Produce Shift Supervisor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have passion and knowledge for all things produce and will assist the Produce Management Team in overseeing the daily department operations, including delegating tasks, training and developing employees, providing exemplary customer service, upholding store policies, and ensuring the proper rotation and display of product to meet our high standards for freshness and quality.

• Assist in managing, motivating, training, and developing staff according to company policies and procedures.
• Merchandise produce so that it is organized and visually appealing to maximize sales and uphold overall store appearance.
• Control product rotation with produce floor stock, manage floor displays to ensure limited product loss, execute in store specials when necessary.
• Manage inventory levels to limit product loss.
• Provide exceptional customer service in all situations, including returns and complaints.
• Maintain store and display signage to set standards.
• Monitor sales floor for loss-prevention and store security purposes.
• Be a role model and inspire behavior consistent with our values.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all Team Members, customers, and vendors.

• Retail supervisory experience in a grocery, food specialty or produce environment, or similar experience.
• A passion for providing superior customer service and sharing produce knowledge.
• A positive attitude and the desire to lead and motivate a team.
• The physical ability to stand for long periods of time and lift 25-50lbs repeatedly.
• The ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
• The availability to work full time, 40 hours per week and a variety of shifts including 5:00am to 1:30pm opening shift and 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm closing shifts.
