Job summary

The Root Cellar Village Green Grocer in Victoria, BC is seeking a Grocery Supervisor to support the Grocery Leadership Team in daily department operations, staff development, and exceptional customer service.

You will oversee task delegation, training, inventory control, displays, and adherence to company policies while ensuring freshness and quality of all products for our local customers.

Qualifications

• One year of retail supervisory experience in grocery/produce preferred.
• Passion for customer service and product knowledge.
• Positive attitude with ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Available to work full-time, 40 hours weekly, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing, motivating, training and developing staff according to policies.
• Merchandise items to be organized and visually appealing to maximize sales.
• Control product rotation with floor stock and maintain displays.
• Manage inventory levels to limit product loss.
• Provide exceptional customer service, including returns and complaints.
• Maintain store and display signage to meet standards.

THE ROLE

We are currenting seeking a Grocery Supervisor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have previous grocery experience and will assist the Grocery Leadership Team in overseeing the daily department operations, including delegating tasks, training and developing employees, providing exemplary customer service, upholding store policies, and ensuring the proper rotation and display of product to meet our high standards for freshness and quality.

• Assist in managing, motivating, training and developing staff according to company policies and procedures.
• Merchandise grocery items so that it is organized and visually appealing to maximize sales and uphold overall store appearance.
• Control product rotation with grocery floor stock, manage floor displays to ensure limited product loss, execute in store specials when necessary.
• Manage inventory levels to limit product loss.
• Provide exceptional customer service in all situations, including returns and complaints.
• Maintain store and display signage to set standards.

• One year of retail supervisory experience in a grocery, food specialty or produce environment is preferred, or similar experience.
• A passion for providing superior customer service and sharing produce knowledge.
• A positive attitude and the desire to lead and motivate a team.
• The physical ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs repeatedly.
• The ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
• The availability to work full-time, 40 hours weekly for a variety of shifts including evenings and at least one weekend day.
