Job summary

Metro Testing + Engineering in Edmonton, Alberta, is hiring technicians to perform third party sampling and testing of construction materials for quality control/QA purposes. The role involves field sampling/testing of concrete and soil and building relationships with clients.

The position requires good technical communication, willingness to work nights, and a valid AB driver’s license. Overtime is common during the construction season and benefits are provided after probation.

Qualifications

• Valid AB driver's license and provide driver’s abstract.
• Ability to lift and control weights up to 22 kg (50 lbs).
• Excellent technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility in schedule (ability to work nights).

Responsibilities

Whether you are an experienced Technicians or someone who is new to the industry, you will be joining a company that is looking to develop their employees through training, coaching, and skill development.

What you will be doing:

• Provide third party independent sampling and testing of construction materials for quality control/quality assurance purposes
• Sampling and Testing Concrete and Soil in the field
• Build business relationship with Metro's clients
• Preform test following the industry standard protocols and procedures
• Troubleshooting real time compliance issues in the field and monitoring non-compliance protocols
• Regular over time during the construction season

What you will be getting:

• Hourly wage starts at $21/hr for entry level technician and negotiable for experienced technician with at least 1 year of experience

Who we are looking for:

• Previous experience with concrete and compaction test is an asset, not required
• Valid AB driver’s license (all successful candidates will be asked to provide their driver's abstract)
• Appropriate vehicle for use on construction sites
• Ability to lift and control weights up to 22 kilos / 50 lbs.
• Excellent technical communication skills, both written and verbal
