Job Summary

By delegation from the Engineering Manager, Construction Services, the Materials Technician provides effective and competent support to Intertek Testing Services NA Ltd. in a safe, legal, and ethical manner.

This position is designed for a self‑motivated individual with a strong technical/practical background, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a solid work ethic, and an interest in career growth.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory and field materials testing on concrete, soil and aggregate materials to meet CCIL certification for concrete and aggregate.
• Perform field and laboratory testing on materials and geotechnical projects for clients throughout the Greater Vancouver Area.
• Carry out field material sampling on geotechnical projects in coordination with the Engineering Manager, Laboratory Supervisor, and clients.
• Become proficient in CSA and ASTM materials testing standards and procedures for concrete and aggregate.
• Assist the Laboratory Supervisor in completing materials testing and certification as required.
• Provide materials testing services and inspection on site and in the laboratory.
• Maintain work order and unit posting processes in collaboration with the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Adhere to the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures, Quality Management System, Compliance and Ethics Policies, Vision, Mission and Strategy, exercising good judgment, common sense and diplomacy.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology preferred; equivalent technical experience acceptable.
• 2‑5 years progressive experience in soil, aggregate, geotechnical and concrete materials testing.
• Eligibility for CCIL Concrete Testing Category (CCIL Type C and D Aggregate Certification) and CCIL Concrete Category “0” and “1”.
• Familiarity with ASTM and CSA standards for civil engineering construction QA/QC inspection and testing.
• ASTTBC membership preferred.

Salary & Benefits

The hourly range for this position is $25.00–$27.00 per hour. Compensation packages are based on skill set, experience, qualifications and other job‑related factors.
