Aerotek in Calgary, AB is hiring a Material Management Specialist to oversee inventory activities in a modern warehouse. You will receive, store, issue and ship materials, maintain ERP records, and support production and project teams to ensure material availability.
Responsibilities include handling shipments, organizing stock, and performing cycle counts while adhering to safety procedures and documentation standards.
The Material Management Specialist manages all inventory-related activities within a modern warehouse environment, ensuring materials are received, stored, issued, and shipped accurately and safely. This role supports production and project teams by selecting, staging, and tracking materials, maintaining precise records in ERP and document management systems, and contributing to a high-performing, safety-focused operation.
Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities and specifications against purchase orders and supporting documentation, and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
Organize and store materials in designated warehouse locations, ensuring proper labeling, identification, and accessibility.
Select, pick, and stage parts and materials based on work orders to ensure the correct items and quantities are available for production and project requirements.
Handle the return process for surplus or unused materials from completed jobs by inspecting, counting, and returning items to inventory, updating system records accurately.
Safely operate forklifts and cranes to move, load, unload, and transport materials throughout the facility in accordance with safety procedures.
Prepare outbound shipments by packing, labeling, and organizing materials, ensuring all documentation is accurate and shipments meet quality and safety requirements.
Coordinate transportation arrangements for outbound shipments and communicate any issues or delays to the appropriate teams.
Support routine cycle counts, inventory reconciliations, and audits to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
Monitor stock levels and usage patterns to help prevent shortages, excess inventory, and stockouts, and communicate material concerns in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate records within ERP systems and document management tools, including logging material movements, discrepancies, material test reports (MTRs), and packing slips.
Perform data entry related to inventory transactions, shipping and receiving activities, and material management tasks using ERP and Microsoft Office tools.
Work closely with production, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure material availability and resolve material-related issues efficiently.
Adhere to all workplace safety requirements, including proper use of PPE and safe material handling practices, to ensure a safe working environment.
Comply with quality management system procedures, work instructions, and established standards in all material management activities.
Compile and prepare reports related to inventory levels, warehouse operations, and material management activities as requested by leadership.
Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management to support operational goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
At least 2 years of experience in a supply chain and inventory role.
Proficiency in procurement or ERP software such as NAV, SAP, Oracle, or similar Enterprise Resource Planning tools.
Demonstrated experience in shipping and receiving, including verification of incoming and outgoing materials.
Hands-on experience with materials management, including stocking, staging, and returning materials to inventory.
Strong skills in cycle counts, inventory control, and participation in inventory audits.
Ability to log material movements and maintain accurate documentation, including material test reports (MTRs) and packing slips.
Experience operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift in a warehouse or industrial environment.
Must have forklift and crane experience for loading, unloading, and material handling activities.
Valid Forklift Certification.
Valid TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) Certification.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office or Microsoft Suite applications.
Experience working with ERP systems and data entry for material and inventory transactions.
Experience as a shipper and receiver in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Demonstrated material handling skills, including safe lifting, loading, and unloading.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without restriction and perform physically demanding tasks.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, inventory counts, and data entry.
Ability to work collaboratively with production, procurement, and logistics teams.
Experience with document management systems for logging material movements and maintaining traceability documentation.
Familiarity with inventory reconciliation processes and stock adjustment procedures.
Comfort working with multiple ERP platforms and adapting to new systems and tools.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and address material-related concerns.
Demonstrated commitment to following safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
Experience in an electrical manufacturing or similar industrial environment is an asset.
Ability to identify process improvements in inventory and material management workflows.

You will work in a brand-new, well-lit, clean, and organized facility located in a southeast industrial area. The company manufactures electrical solutions for multiple sectors, providing a modern and structured environment with established processes and systems. The standard shift is days, Monday to Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a half-hour unpaid lunch and overtime eligibility after 40 hours per week. The role is physically demanding and involves regular lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as frequent loading, unloading, and operation of forklifts and cranes. You will use ERP systems, Microsoft Office tools, and document management systems as part of daily work. Personal protective equipment is required, including CSA-approved green triangle safety boots, safety glasses, and gloves, supporting a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
