Job Title: Carpenter Foreman
Job Description

This role oversees commercial construction projects while leading crews of 3 to 12 workers to deliver safe, high-quality work on schedule. Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Carpenter Foreman coordinates daily activities, plans upcoming work, manages materials, and provides hands‑on leadership across multiple scopes, including rough carpentry, concrete, steel stud framing, drywall, general carpentry, and site support work. This is a working foreman position, so you will spend time on the tools when needed while ensuring safety, quality, and production standards are consistently met.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise crews of 3–12 workers on commercial construction projects.

  • Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards and project specifications.

  • Coordinate daily activities with the Site Superintendent and other trades to keep work flowing smoothly.

  • Plan and execute upcoming work through effective look‑ahead scheduling.

  • Order, manage, and track materials, equipment, and site resources to support project progress.

  • Oversee rough carpentry, concrete work, steel stud framing, drywall, and general carpentry scopes.

  • Provide site support and assist trades as required to ensure successful project execution.

  • Monitor crew productivity and overall project progress, addressing issues proactively.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential issues before they impact production or safety.

  • Maintain accurate site documentation and communicate updates and changes to the Site Superintendent.

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and clear direction to labourers and skilled tradespeople.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and project drawings, and delegate tasks effectively based on these documents.

  • Promote and enforce safe work practices on site, ensuring compliance with all safety procedures.

  • Use construction management software, including Procore and Rumbix, to support planning, tracking, and reporting.

  • Work on the tools when required, demonstrating strong carpentry and construction skills while leading by example.

Essential Skills
  • 10+ years of commercial construction experience.

  • Previous experience as a foreman, lead hand, or similar role overseeing crews of 3–12 workers.

  • Strong knowledge of all phases of construction, including rough carpentry, concrete, steel stud framing, drywall, and general carpentry.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards for safety, quality, and production.

  • Proficiency with construction management software, including Procore.

  • Comfort using technology in the field, including Rumbix and related digital tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project drawings accurately.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear direction to crews, subcontractors, and site leadership.

  • Experience with material management, look‑ahead scheduling, and coordinating daily activities with Site Superintendents.

  • Willingness and ability to work on the tools when required.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

  • Fall Protection Certification.

  • Aerial Work Platform (AWP) Certification.

  • Intermediate First Aid (Level 2) certification.

  • Strong safety mindset and a proven track record of promoting and enforcing safe work practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience in construction, carpentry, framing, concrete work, and drywall installation.

  • Ability to use a wide range of construction tools and equipment confidently and safely.

  • Experience in commercial construction environments with multiple trades working concurrently.

  • Skill in reading and working from blueprints and technical drawings.

  • Ability to mentor and develop team members through clear instruction and constructive feedback.

  • Organizational skills to manage resources, documentation, and schedules effectively.

  • Problem‑solving abilities to identify issues early and implement practical solutions on site.

This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, BC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
