Job summary

New Flyer in Winnipeg is seeking a Marketing and Communications assistant to support engagement, recruitment, and strategic execution. You will help create clear communications across email, intranet, newsletters, video, and social media, while assisting with intranet content management and campaign support.

Collaborate with the Communications Manager to draft materials, plan social content, and track performance.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Familiarity with different social media and scheduling platforms including LinkedIn.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing clear, concise, and engaging communications across multiple channels (email, intranet, newsletters, video, presentations, social media).
  • Help maintain and update intranet content, including routine publishing, page maintenance, and supporting intranet-based campaigns.
  • Draft content and assemble materials for internal and external communications initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Specialist on social media planning, content creation, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
  • Assist in developing digital and print materials that align with branding standards.
  • Gather analytics from intranet and social media channels to evaluate campaign effectiveness.
  • Support execution of communication campaigns that align with New Flyer’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Ensure NFI brand standards are utilized across communications.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing and Communications is responsible for supporting engagement, recruitment, and strategic execution across the company. This position will assist in executing communication initiatives, supporting intranet content management, and assisting with employee engagement campaigns. A large part of this role will involve assisting with social media initiatives, brand-aligned content, and marketing campaign support.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Assist in developing clear, concise, and engaging communications across multiple channels (email, intranet, newsletters, video, presentations, social media).
  • Help maintain and update intranet content, including routine publishing, page maintenance, and supporting intranet-based campaigns.
  • Work closely with the Communications Manager to collect information, draft content, and assemble materials for internal and external communications initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Specialist on social media planning, content creation, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
  • Assist in the development of digital and print materials, including graphics, presentations, and basic design tasks that align with New Flyer’s branding standards.
  • Gathering analytics from intranet and social media channels to help evaluate campaign effectiveness.
  • Support execution of communication campaigns that align with New Flyer’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Ensure that NFI’s brand standards are utilized across internal and external communications.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Post-secondary education in Marketing or a related discipline. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Familiarity with different social media and scheduling platforms including but not limited to LinkedIn.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent self-manager with strong organizational skills that is comfortable working in collaborative fast-paced environment.
