Job description

Position Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and analyze reinsurance settlements and reporting for internal and external reinsurance treaties, including complex global treaties covering multiple accounting bases (IFRS 17, NAIC, Tax and Bermuda STAT)
  • Compile and review reinsurance-related footnote disclosures and reinsurance-related Annual Financial Statement schedules
  • Present reinsurance financial results to stakeholders quarterly
  • Define and evaluate new reinsurance treaty accounting models and calculation methodologies
  • Collaborate with global IT, Actuarial, Finance, and Investments teams to manage changes in systems and processes due to new accounting standards, operational initiatives or new treaty agreements to ensure timeliness and integrity of financial data used for reinsurance reporting
  • Mentor and share best practices with other team members
Required Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience in an insurance or financial services environment
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Ability to learn and apply a large amount of technical accounting material
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel and Power BI
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently, with attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a demanding and deadline-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and comfortable working with senior levels of management
  • Must be well-organized and innovative with an aptitude for automation/process improvements
  • Commitment to understanding complex financial transactions and maintaining strong internal controls is essential
  • Able to work as part of a team with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

Referenced Salary

Location Toronto, Ontario Working Arrangement Hybrid Salary range is expected to be between $92,900.00 CAD - $142,900.00 CAD Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job‑related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
