Job summary

FortisBC in Surrey, BC, seeks a senior procurement leader to guide major capital project procurement and governance. You will drive strategies, contracts, and supplier partnerships to enable project success, reporting to the Director of Procurement & Facilities.

The role leads a high‑performing team, manages budgets, and ensures compliance, safety, and value delivery across programs. A Bachelor’s degree, SCMP or equivalent, and 7+ years in leadership are required; SAP and MS Office proficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum of seven years leadership experience; SCMP designation or equivalent.
  • Deep knowledge of procurement, supply chain, logistics, contract processes, and corporate policies, with strong proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, work independently, apply sound judgment, and drive informed business decisions through strong analytical skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and effectively resolve conflicts across diverse stakeholder groups.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, Procurement & Facilities, this senior leadership role drives the strategic procurement and contracting framework for major capital projects. Leading a high-performing team, the position ensures governance, compliance, and value optimization while delivering procurement solutions that enable project success, strengthen supplier partnerships, and support the organization's long-term objectives.


In this role, you will:


  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of procurement strategies and governance frameworks that support major project delivery.

  • Drive procurement objectives, delivery models, contract strategies, and governance practices to ensure consistency, value creation, and effective risk mitigation.

  • Partner with Project, Legal, Finance, and Procurement teams to align procurement solutions with project requirements and enable successful project outcomes.

  • Build and lead a high-performing procurement team, optimizing resources, developing talent, and ensuring operational excellence in a fast-paced project environment.

  • Manage procurement-related budgets, ensure contract and process compliance, uphold industry best practices, and champion a strong culture of safety.


What it takes:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution. A minimum of seven (7) years related experience in a leadership capacity, and SCMP designation or equivalent. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

  • Deep knowledge of procurement, supply chain management, logistics, contract processes, and corporate policies, with strong proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, work independently, apply sound judgment, and drive informed business decisions through strong analytical skills.

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and effectively resolve conflicts across diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, attention to detail, and teamwork.


In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
