Job description

Empowering People – Extraordinary Performance

Start Your Next Opportunity with IAMGOLD

Are you ready to take ownership of a dynamic and critical role within an international organization? We’re seeking a Manager, Payroll who will lead payroll operations for our Canadian and international teams, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a role that blends leadership, operational expertise, and strategic vision.

In this position, you will assume full responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly and monthly payroll across Canada and internationally. You will oversee all aspects of payroll operations, including data collection, payroll processing, auditing, accounting entries, and final transfer approvals, while ensuring compliance with tax, legal, and accounting standards. Your expertise will be essential in managing government requirements, responding to audit requests, and staying current on payroll laws and best practices to maintain smooth and compliant operations.

Year-end processing and reporting will be a core part of your role. You will lead the coordination of year-end activities, ensuring accurate data submissions to governments and employees, managing communication with agencies, and transmitting payments. You will work closely with external suppliers, reconciling data for pension plans and stock options while providing vital reporting to internal stakeholders, including senior management.

In addition to operational excellence, you will champion continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements, automation, and development strategies. Collaborating across departments, you will streamline communication and improve operational efficiency while ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal controls. As a trusted partner, you will provide clear guidance to employees, managers, and stakeholders on payroll-related matters, serving as the primary liaison with auditors and delivering essential documentation and explanations.

What You Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you’ll need a Diploma in Administration and Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certification from the National Payroll Institute. With over 10 years of experience, including 3 to 5 years in payroll management, you’ll bring expertise in accounting principles, employment standards, and government legislation.

Experience with international and expatriate payroll, proficiency in specialized software like Nethris, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail are essential. Strong analytical and communication skills are required.

Based out of IAMGOLD's corporate office in Toronto, this position offers flexible working arrangements with a hybrid approach, including in-office days Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

We offer an attractive total rewards package that includes a competitive salary and bonus, extended health, dental and insurance benefit coverage, a health spending account, fitness & wellness subsidy, employee & family assistance program, registered pension plan with company match, employee share purchase plan with company match, TFSA & RRSP, electric vehicle subsidy, summer hours and holiday office closure.

We understand no candidate meets every qualification listed. If your experience differs but you believe you can add value to the role, we want to hear from you! We are committed to inclusivity and welcome applications from individuals of all abilities. If you need accommodation during the application process, please contact us, and we'll provide the necessary support.
