Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is seeking a Manager, Operating Room & Surgical Performance to provide strategic and operational leadership for the OR and perioperative initiatives in Peterborough, Ontario. You will oversee utilization, quality, patient flow, and program development while coordinating with physicians and external partners.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of leadership experience in surgical services, with strong data analytics and budgeting skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree in Health Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, Leadership, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years progressive leadership experience in surgical services, perioperative care or healthcare operations.
  • Experience with budget management, procurement and capital planning.
  • Experience with EPIC and healthcare information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, operational, clinical, and quality leadership for the Operating Room and related perioperative initiatives.
  • Lead operational planning, surgical utilization, quality improvement, wait time management, and program development.
  • Serve as liaison between surgical services staff, physicians, and external partners to optimize access and outcomes.

Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.WHAT YOU’LL DO:The Manager, Operating Room & Surgical Performance provides strategic, operational, clinical, and quality leadership for the Operating Room and related perioperative initiatives. The Manager is accountable for the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered surgical services through effective management of human, financial, technological, and physical resources.As a key member of the Surgical Services leadership team, the Manager leads operational planning, surgical utilization, quality improvement, wait time management, performance analytics, innovation, and program development. The position serves as the primary liaison between surgical services staff, physicians, Surgeon Office Managers (SOMs), Ontario Health, and external partners to optimize access, efficiency, quality outcomes, and funding opportunities.The Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve operating room utilization, surgical wait times, quality outcomes, patient flow, and system performance while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, legislative requirements, and organizational priorities.WHAT YOU’LL BRING:Baccalaureate degree requiredMaster's Degree in Health Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, Leadership, or related field preferred.3 - 5 years progressive leadership experience in surgical services, perioperative care or healthcare operations.Experience leading quality improvement, utilization management, and change initiatives.Experience with budget management, procurement, and capital planning.Experience working with surgeons, physician office managers, and external healthcare stakeholders.Knowledge of Ontario Health wait time strategies, WTIS, SETP, NSQIP, and ONSQIN methodologies.Strong data analytics and performance management skills.Experience with EPIC and healthcare information systems.Project management and change management expertise.Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement skills.Knowledge of collective agreements and labour relations principles.Member of ORNAC preferredWHO YOU ARE:Excellent analytical and budgeting skillsExcellent human resources management and leadership skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with administration, directors/managers, staff, physicians, and the community.Excellent organizational skills and ability to adapt to continually changing priorities.Exceptional knowledge of program planning and evaluationDemonstrated ability to achieve goals and objectives within specified time framesDemonstrated ability to manage change effectively.Data interpretation and analysisProcurement and RFP processesDemonstrated conflict resolution and crisis management skills.Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.Membership and active participation in a relevant professional associationKnowledge of collective agreements would be an assetThis position is for a current vacancy.OUR COMMITMENT:At PRHC, we take great pride in maintaining an inclusive culture of respect and a diverse workforce that reflects the community we serve.
