HOURS OF WORK

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Manager, Operating Room & Surgical Performance provides strategic, operational, clinical, and quality leadership for the Operating Room and related perioperative initiatives. The Manager is accountable for the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered surgical services through effective management of human, financial, technological, and physical resources. As a key member of the Surgical Services leadership team, the Manager leads operational planning, surgical utilization, quality improvement, wait time management, performance analytics, innovation, and program development. The position serves as the primary liaison between surgical services staff, physicians, Surgeon Office Managers (SOMs), Ontario Health, and external partners to optimize access, efficiency, quality outcomes, and funding opportunities. The Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve operating room utilization, surgical wait times, quality outcomes, patient flow, and system performance while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, legislative requirements, and organizational priorities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • Baccalaureate degree required
  • Master's Degree in Health Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, Leadership, or related field preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years progressive leadership experience in surgical services, perioperative care or healthcare operations.
  • Experience leading quality improvement, utilization management, and change initiatives.
  • Experience with budget management, procurement, and capital planning.
  • Experience working with surgeons, physician office managers, and external healthcare stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Health wait time strategies, WTIS, SETP, NSQIP, and ONSQIN methodologies.
  • Strong data analytics and performance management skills.
  • Experience with EPIC and healthcare information systems.
  • Project management and change management expertise.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of collective agreements and labour relations principles.
  • Member of ORNAC preferred.
