Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager, Human Resources (HR) is responsible for the planning, management, delivery, administration and evaluation of Human Resources programs and services at Nunavut Arctic College (NAC), in conjunction with specialist HR services provided by the Government of Nunavut. These include Recruitment and Staffing, Employee Relations and Collective Agreement Interpretation, Relocations, Training and Development, Performance Management, Human Resources Records, Inuit Employment, Occupational Health and Safety, Job Evaluation, Compensation and Benefits.

This position will serve as a key HR advisor and specialist for the College and provides quality advice and support to senior management on human resources planning and management decisions, including labour and employee relations, disciplinary matters, performance management, staffing practices and policy interpretation. The Manager supports the effective application of GN and College HR policies and procedures, assists in the development and revision of HR processes as required, and supports staffing practices aligned with Article 23 of the Nunavut Agreement and the College’s Priority Hiring Policy, including Inuit employment initiatives and staffing guidance to management. The incumbent also ensures staffing, relocation and associated housing arrangements are coordinated efficiently and in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and collective agreements.
