Job description

Our employees are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we help people, businesses, and society prosper in good times and be resilient in bad times.

Our employee promise represents Intact’s commitment to you in exchange for living our Values, striving to do your best work, being open to change and investing in your career. In return, we promise to provide support, opportunities and performance-led financial rewards at a workplace where you can shape the future, win as a team and grow with us.

About the role

At Intact, we believe that insurance should primarily focus on people, not things. This conviction is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we strive to offer an exceptional experience to our clients and create an inspiring workplace where our employees can excel.

As the largest provider of property and casualty insurance in Canada, we are not only an industry leader but also redefining the work within it. As an employer of choice, we are committed to living our values and supporting our employees, who give their best every day because they know their contribution matters.

Our growing team is looking for a Human Resources Manager. The person who will join our team in this role can do so from any Intact Financial Corporation office in Canada.

The incumbent of this position will collaborate with leaders and managers from various departments within Intact Insurance Canada.

In collaboration with their HR colleagues, this strategic partner role with our business colleagues will be responsible for managing the entire human resources cycle, managing certain projects, and solving problems. They will act as an expert in employee relations and collaborate with other stakeholders to design and deploy HR initiatives to achieve their strategic objectives. They will also manage a team of HR professionals.

Here are some ways you will move things forward:

Apply your knowledge of HR best practices to guide decision-making.

Exert strong leadership and influence at various levels of the organization.

Supervise, evaluate, and develop a team of HR professionals and contribute to maintaining and improving employee engagement, both within HR and for the organization.

Collaborate with company leaders and executives to deploy HR programs that will help achieve business results.

Monitor HR-related indicators within your area of responsibility and, if necessary, anticipate the required actions.

Contribute to the execution and deployment of the annual HR cycle, which includes performance management, talent and succession management, and engagement.

Support the team and organizational partners by helping them resolve employee relations issues or any other complex issues.

Stay informed about industry and HR trends and make appropriate recommendations.

Recommend changes based on internal trends and competitive benchmarking analysis.

Collaborate with various centers of expertise, such as talent acquisition and compensation, on strategies for the business units under your responsibility.

Actively contribute to special projects (regional or national) as needed.

Your background:

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

At least 10 years of experience in HR roles with increasing responsibilities, including at least 7 years as a generalist.

Experience in managing, supervising, and coaching employees.

Demonstration of behaviors related to our values and leadership success factors.

Result-oriented with strong analytical skills.

Proven influence and leadership abilities.

Attention to detail and high precision.

Mandatory knowledge of labor relations principles (knowledge of labor laws in multiple Canadian provinces is an asset).

Knowledge of English is required. Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
