Job summary

Canadian North is recruiting a Manager, Flight Crew Training to develop, implement and maintain training programs for pilots and cabin crew, aligned with safety standards in coordination with Chief Pilots. The role includes LMS management, risk assessments, and supporting safety investigations.

The ideal candidate brings ATPL or equivalent, 2+ years of training experience, strong public speaking, and excellent knowledge of CARS/CASS. Travel for training and a pathway for advancement are offered.

Qualifications

  • Hold or have held an ATPL or equivalent, ideally on a type operated by Canadian North.
  • Two (2) years of previous training experience.
  • Ability to public speak with ease.
  • Above average computer and course design skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARS) and Commercial Air Service Standards (CASS).
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • MS Windows and Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Chief Pilots on training standards.
  • Monitor safety policies and run hazard/risk reporting.
  • Lead audits, risk assessments and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain Flight Training Manual and LMS configurations.
  • Travel for training assignments as required.
  • Assist with safety investigations and Emergency Response planning.

Job description

Position Summary

The Manager, Flight Crew Training is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and administration of all Pilot Flight and Ground Training Programs and their standards in coordination with the Chief Pilots. The Manager, Flight Crew Training will umbrella Cabin Crew training to enhance quality, CRM and EPT training and assist where necessary.

What You'll Do
  • Ensuring that all Flight Operations department personnel have safety as their primary objective by adhering to the Canadian North safety policy and utilizing the appropriate safety reporting program in order to identify and communicate all known hazards and risks to the organization;
  • Ensuring continuous improvement through the periodic review of documented processes to include industry best practices;
  • Maintaining and enforcing all Flight Operations Quality Assurance initiatives, policies, practices and procedures;
  • Developing, implementing, maintaining and administering non-type-specific Pilot Ground Training Programs;
  • Ensuring all training programs integrate Human Factors and Crew Resource Management training into all aspects of training;
  • Maintaining the Flight Training Manual;
  • Assisting Cabin Crew trainers where required;
  • Ensuring integrated crew training is facilitated, and any discrepancies are promptly addressed;
  • Monitoring and coordinating updates of the Dangerous Goods program with Commercial;
  • Overseeing, maintaining, and configuring corporate LMS as it pertains to Flight Operations staff;
  • Traveling as required for training assignments;
  • Ensuring that accidents, incidents or hazards are reported appropriately and within a timely manner;
  • Assisting with safety investigations;
  • Conducting audits or assisting with audits;
  • Conducting risk assessments and root cause investigation;
  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of corrective action plans;
  • Conducting workplace inspections as required by the Safety Department;
  • Participating as a management representative in Emergency Response Plan, Occupational Health and Safety and other committees as required; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
