Here is what you will be doing:
Reporting to the Director, External Communications and Engagement, the Manager, Engagement is an experienced champion for high quality stakeholder engagement. The role works across Ontario Health supporting stakeholder engagement and patient and family engagement. The manager is collaborative, overseeing a team responsible for providing strategic guidance, and support, advancing Ontario Health’s engagement program.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Manage stakeholder, patient and family engagement, in fulfilment of section 44 of the Connecting Care Act.
Consult with Ontario Health’s executive leadership on their engagement efforts to complement and inform the CEO’s partner engagement strategy and measure the impact of relationship management.
Monitor and report on engagement performance measures across the organization, using results to inform Ontario Health’s engagement strategy.
Provide secretariat support to the CEO’s Patient Family Advisory Council and Health System Advisory Council, and all formal CEO engagements.
Provide guidance to provincial programs and regions to develop stakeholder, patient and family engagement plans.
Develop and share best practices and quality engagement frameworks to support Ontario Health staff.
Chair Ontario Health’s Patient Family Engagement Committee, promoting best practice, collaboration and cross-learning among committee members.
Advance Ontario Health’s equity goals through innovative engagement strategies and approaches.
Manage team of engagement professionals who support effective and meaningful engagement by portfolios and regions, including policies, processes, guidance and training documents.
Grow relationships with colleagues and senior leaders, and externally with key partners and stakeholders.
Champion collaboration, teamwork and a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
Education and Experience
A minimum of seven (7) years’ progressive and relevant experience ideally within the health sector (or similarly complex service delivery environment) including expertise in engagement with a wide variety of diverse stakeholders.
Undergraduate degree required. Master’s level degree is preferred; ideally in Health Administration, Health Policy, Social Sciences or a related field is preferred.
Proven expertise in developing and implementing meaningful and impactful engagement strategies for a wide range of stakeholders, including partners, patients and families.
People leadership experience combined with strong judgement, results orientation, strategic thinking and collaboration skills.
Direct experience working with and advising senior leaders.
Knowledge and Skills
Subject matter expertise in engagement frameworks, methodologies, best practices and implementation approaches
Skilled at influencing and partnering with others
Experience and understanding of government, legislative processes and advocacy
Ability to produce high quality written materials (including briefs, reports and presentations)
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, including sound judgment, and diplomacy
Effective communicator with the ability to support and advise leaders
Highly organized and able to develop and manage effective workplans and projects
Flexible and resourceful with a high degree of professionalism and ability to manage competing priorities
With coaching and performance evaluation, ability to foster high-quality team results and outcomes
Self-directed, with enthusiasm, initiative and demonstrated ability to work independently to deadlines
