Role

Reporting to the Director Wholesale, the incumbent will play a key role by overseeing all activities surrounding the sale of petroleum products for the reseller customer market and sales delivered within Quebec. They will also be responsible for developing and implementing effective sales strategies. This position is crucial to the company’s growth in income and market share.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a sales territory with contracted and non-contracted volumes.
  • Participates in managing badges and terminal allocations in Québec and the Atlantic regions.
  • Develops and implements sales strategies to maximize the income and market share of petroleum products in Quebec.
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key clients, business partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversees the sales process from prospecting to closing, ensuring customer satisfaction and quality standards.
  • Collaborates with other departments of the company such as the refinery, legal affairs and the supply group to ensure a harmonious and integrated approach.
  • Oversees the daily management of sales operations in Quebec.
  • Develops and negotiates directly for reseller accounts and delivered customers.
  • Manages allocations with all customers in Quebec.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, engineering or some other relevant field.
  • Relevant experience in managing key accounts.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing and/or supervising sales.
  • Bilingualism – French and English (both orally and in writing).
  • Experience in the petroleum industry is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of Excel and sales management software is an asset.
  • Teamwork-minded.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills.
  • Creativity in resolving problems under pressure.
  • Analytical skills to interpret sales data and market trends.
  • Proactive and able to take initiatives and anticipate customers’ needs.

Valero Energy Inc. is governed by the Charter of the French Language. However, knowledge of English is considered necessary for performing the tasks of this position. The individual in this position will be required to review documents and interact both verbally and in writing with colleagues at the head office in Texas or in other Canadian provinces, or with various stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, unilingual anglophone business partners.
