Job summary

Cresco in Bedford, Nova Scotia is seeking a Manager, Accounting to cover a 14-18 month maternity leave. The role leads accounting and reporting for multiple entities, manages month-end processes, and supports government remittance reporting and compliance.

You will work with the Director of Accounting on strategic and tactical activities, review month-end packages, and provide analytical insights to stakeholders. CPA designation and multi-entity experience are required.

Qualifications

• CPA designation with 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in high-volume or multi-entity environments.
• Experience in construction/real estate environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review month-end and quarter-end reports for multiple companies.
• Prepare building reports and internal management packages.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on budget preparation and analysis.
• Identify useful information, analyze and model data to support decisions.
• Reconcile intercompany transactions and cross-billings.
• Analytical review of Income Statement and Balance Sheets for accuracy and controls.
• Provide insight to financial information for internal/external stakeholders.
• Test and review procedures to safeguard assets and improve processes.
• Prepare, review and manage year-end files for external accountants.
• Respond to government reporting and remittance requests (StatsCan, CRA).
• Support Finance with systems/process improvements across the organization.
• Contribute to developing new process improvements.
• Prepare annual commercial real estate rental calculations.

Cresco is a Bedford, Nova Scotia-based builder guided by the art of building, As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Manager, Accounting (term 14-18-month mat leave coverage) to lead the accounting and reporting of multiple companies, day-to-day banking, financial analysis for stakeholders and government reporting and remittances.

Reporting to the Director, Accounting, this is both a strategic and tactical, hands-on role. The successful candidate will execute on preparing and reviewing month end reports for multiple companies and interact with partners to ensure Cresco maintains its mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications

• CPA designation,with 3-5+ years of experience in progressive accounting roles.
• Previous experience in a high-volume or multi-entity environment.
• Advanced and proven abilities in Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in Sage Intacct or other ERP systems will be considered an asset.
• Experience in a construction/real estate environment will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

• Prepare and review various month-end and quarter-end reports for multiple companies.
• Prepare and review building reports and preparation of internal reporting packages for management team and partners.
• Work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders for budget preparation and analysis.
• Identify useful and relevant information, process it, analyze and organize it into various models to support in decision making. Make conclusions or recommendations, as applicable.
• Reconcile intercompany transactions and cross billings.
• Analytical review of Income Statement and Balance Sheets to ensure transaction posting accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures, and internal controls.
• Provide value added insight to financial information presented internally and externally to various stakeholders.

• Prepare, review and manage year-end files for external accountants, and respond to requests for additional information, as needed.
• Review, respond and ensure compliance with all Government reporting and remittances, including Statistics Canada and CRA requests for additional information.
• Support and work with the Finance team with systems and process improvements throughout the organization.
• Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
• Prepare annual commercial real estate rental calculations.
