We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee all financial operations of the University of Manitoba Bookstore. This role involves managing accounting functions, inventory control, accounts payable/receivable, cash handling, and departmental budgets. It also provides accounting support to other areas within Ancillary Services, including assisting with audits, regulatory compliance, process mapping, internal controls, and other duties as assigned.
The Accounting Manager reconciles accounts, prepares statements of operations, develops sales analysis reports, inventory reports, and offers recommendations to the Bookstore Director regarding margins, inventory levels, pricing, and turnover based on these analyses. Additionally, the role is responsible for developing and implementing accounting procedures and controls for both existing and newly adopted systems within the Bookstore.
This position also supervises a team of full-time employees and indirectly oversees a large group of part-time staff during peak periods. Responsibilities include hiring, training, disciplining, motivating, and managing staff.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a solid accounting background, and experience with inventory and financial systems in a retail environment.
