Job description

As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for the management and leadership of the Center of Excellence. Your responsibilities will include managing the day-to-day activities, deliverables, and associated initiatives for the CoE. This role will work directly with other key leaders on the CoE, and other Global Accounting teams; in establishing processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective controls are in place for areas of functional responsibilities. This includes but is not limited to ensuring the delivery of quality balance sheet reconciliations, accurate documentation/SOPs for the reconciliation process, driving standardization and enhancements for the reconciliation process across the Enterprise, and ensuring reconciliations are performed according to policy.

As the Manager, you will cultivate a continuous improvement culture, promote ongoing learning, and exhibit a high level of engagement in a fast-paced F&A shared services environment. In addition, you will contribute to the Shared Service strategy and execution by applying knowledge and experience and helping develop others through cross-training.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

1. Lead, manage, coach, and develop a virtual accounting team of both onshore and offshore resources.
2. Work and manage independently with other CoE management members.
3. Ensure high levels of efficiency and accuracy in all activities.
4. Be accountable for complex balance sheet reconciliations related activities both onshore and offshore.
5. Gather and analyze data, identify differences, communicate appropriately, and ensure relevant resolution for reconciliations.
6. Provide guidance and direction on reconciliation requirements.
7. Maintain standards according to reconciliation policy.
8. Demonstrate an understanding of reconciliation-related processes and inter-dependencies.
9. Continuously monitor and report on reconciliation dashboards.
10. Track issues reported and be accountable for resolution.
11. Foster a continuous improvement mentality and partner on transformational activities to enhance reconciliation quality and accuracy.
12. Support audits and ensure SOX compliance with assigned responsibilities.
13. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure adherence to processes and policies, and ensure understanding of these requirements.
14. Manage projects and initiatives, including system integrations, acquisitions, and process improvements.
15. Develop strong familiarity with critical systems used by the department.
16. Partner with Finance leadership to provide financial analysis and insights for decision-making.
17. Take a consultative approach with stakeholders and influence decisions.
18. Adhere to strict timelines for recurring deliverables such as month-end close activities.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

• BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience; CPA strongly preferred.
• At least 5 years of related general accounting experience; insurance experience preferred.
• Four (4) years of supervisory experience.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

• CPA strongly preferred.
• Experience with Blackline or other reconciliation tools.
• Experience working in a shared services environment.
• Knowledge of Oracle ERP and ARC.
• Understanding of US GAAP, STAT, internal controls, financial reporting, data analysis, and trending.
• Working knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Understanding of progressive accounting practices and procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, audits).
• Strong problem analysis and resolution skills at a functional level.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work extended hours during critical close periods.
• Experience with Microsoft BI Reporting / Cubes.
• Public accounting and/or audit experience.
• Understanding of SOX controls and other financial reporting controls.
• Strong collaboration, delegation, and partnering skills.
• Proficiency in analyzing large, complex data sets.
