Position Title: Manager, Accounting Salary & Benefits: $100,000–$120,000 base salary + 20% annual bonus opportunity Position Status: Current Vacancy – 2 openings Location: Gatineau, QC Work Model: Hybrid (minimum 4 days onsite per week) Additional Notes: Canadian CPA designation is strongly preferred, although candidates completing their final CPA experience requirements may be considered. Public accounting experience, particularly from a Big 4 or large national firm, and prior team leadership are strong assets.

Our client is seeking two proactive, solutions-oriented Managers, Accounting to join a large and complex finance organization. These roles are ideal for accounting professionals who bring strong technical judgment, an ownership mindset, and the ability to lead teams through complexity with clarity and momentum. Reporting to senior accounting leadership, each Manager will oversee a small team of accounting professionals and help deliver accurate, decision-ready financial information across a diverse portfolio of entities. The successful candidates will combine strong technical accounting knowledge with hands‑on leadership, continuous improvement, and the confidence to challenge existing processes and drive meaningful change.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee complex accounting operations across multiple entities, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of trial balances and financial information.
• Drive a disciplined, predictable, and efficient month‑end and year‑end close process.
• Provide guidance on complex IFRS and U.S. GAAP accounting matters and policy interpretation.
• Support financial reporting and deliver clear, actionable insights to senior management.
• Participate extensively in external audits, including audit preparation, issue resolution, and coordination with external auditors.
• Manage and support SOX/ICFR controls, ensuring a strong and compliant control environment.

Continuous Improvement & Transformation

• Execute accounting transformation initiatives focused on simplification, standardization, and automation.
• Identify process inefficiencies and help implement improvements that strengthen close quality, reporting accuracy, and audit readiness.
• Support the adoption of technology and AI-enabled tools where appropriate to improve accounting workflows.
• Participate in accounting integration activities related to acquisitions, dispositions, and capital recycling initiatives.
• Help establish scalable accounting standards and processes that support continued organizational growth.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 2–4 accounting professionals.
• Provide regular feedback, conduct performance reviews, and support career development and succession planning.
• Set clear expectations and foster a high‑performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members navigating complex accounting issues.
• Build trusted relationships with senior leaders, cross‑functional partners, and operational teams across the organization.

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of progressive accounting experience within a large, complex, multi‑entity, or publicly traded environment. They hold a Canadian CPA designation or are nearing completion of their final CPA experience requirements and have developed strong technical accounting expertise across IFRS, U.S. GAAP, financial close, internal controls, and SOX/ICFR. Candidates may come from corporate accounting environments or public accounting firms, with Big 4 or large national‑firm experience considered highly valuable. Current Managers within public practice, as well as strong Senior Accountants or Senior Managers who are ready to step into formal people leadership, may be particularly well suited to this opportunity. The successful candidate will also bring at least two years of leadership, supervisory, or significant coaching experience and be comfortable managing a small team while remaining close to the technical accounting work.
