Position Title: Director, Accounting Salary & Benefits: $145,000–$180,000 base salary + 30% annual bonus opportunity Position Status: Current Vacancy Location: Gatineau, QC Work Model: Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)

The Director, Accounting will serve as a senior accounting leader, reporting to the Vice President, Finance and helping build a scalable, future-ready accounting function for a growing, multi-entity business. This is a true builder role for a hands‑on, collaborative leader who can create structure, establish practical standards, develop people and processes, and guide the organization through significant transformation. The Director will ensure reliable financial information, disciplined controls, strong financial reporting, and a successful transition of accounting responsibilities while taking ownership of the accounting requirements and business decisions associated with a major ERP implementation.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Function Development
  • Establish and strengthen the accounting operating model, including team capabilities, governance, policies, processes, controls, and service expectations.
  • Develop a roadmap for transitioning accounting responsibilities from acquired portfolio companies while ensuring business continuity and clear accountability.
  • Implement scalable practices across project accounting, procurement, billing, general accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop a high‑performing accounting team while fostering accountability, succession planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Build alignment across stakeholders and make timely decisions that balance immediate operational requirements with long–term scalability.
Controllership & Financial Reporting
  • Lead accounting operations across a complex portfolio of entities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information and underlying trial balances.
  • Drive a disciplined, predictable, and efficient month‑end and year‑end close and consolidation process.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex IFRS and U.S. GAAP matters and the application of company accounting policies.
  • Lead audit readiness and execution, oversee SOX/ICFR compliance, and identify and remediate control gaps.
  • Deliver clear, decision‑ready financial reporting, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Transformation, Standardization & ERP Readiness
  • Define and standardize future‑state accounting processes, policies, data requirements, and internal controls.
  • Own accounting requirements and key business‑side design decisions for the organization’s permanent ERP solution.
  • Partner with IT and external implementation teams to translate accounting requirements into effective system design and ensure accountability for deliverables.
  • Lead accounting readiness for testing, data conversion, cutover, and go‑live.
  • Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives focused on process simplification, standardization, close quality, audit readiness, automation, and appropriate AI‐enabled opportunities.
  • Ensure technology solutions support the broader accounting operating model and long‑term organizational growth.

  • Demonstrated success building or materially transforming an accounting function within a complex, multi-entity organization.
  • Proven leadership through significant organizational change, including the ability to improve performance within challenging or evolving team environments.
  • Strong experience leading major finance transformation, process improvement, automation, or ERP‑related initiatives.
  • Deep technical accounting expertise across IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
  • Public‑company experience through a listed organization or significant Big4 exposure.
  • Exceptional ability to develop talent, influence senior stakeholders, and foster a collaborative, accountable, low‑ego culture.
