Job description

Alberta Health Services has a unique opportunity for a Mammography and Quality Control Technologist II to join our Screen Test North team as an integral part of the Alberta Breast Cancer Screening program. This position reports to the Screen Test North Supervisor and works closely with the Mammography and Quality Control Technologist II from the Screen Test South office.

This role provides leadership to the Screen Test North mammography technologist team and oversees the operations of the mammography/technical area. You will be part of a dynamic team providing crucial breast screening and access to mammography services in Edmonton and over 120 rural communities via mobile units, enabling early detection of breast cancer in rural and remote locations, including Indigenous and underserved communities.

The Technologist II relies on their expertise in mammography to contribute to the goals of the Screen Test department at Alberta Health Services. The position entails a standard 38.75 hours per pay period, with some mobile rotations involving three 12-hour days, including out-of-town and overnight travel.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee operations of the mammography and technical areas
  • Supervise Mammography Technologist I staff
  • Work independently, perform quality control tests, and troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Maintain high levels of communication and professionalism with clients, volunteers, and staff
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Medical Radiation Technology
  • Active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT)
  • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Minimum of 5 years mammography experience
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Experience in quality control of mammography images and equipment
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialty Certificate in Breast Imaging
  • Knowledge of CPSA and CAR-MAP processes
  • Postgraduate courses in mammography (e.g., CAMRT Mammo I and Mammo II)
  • Experience in conflict management and performance management
  • Knowledge of HSAA Collective Agreement and unionized management experience

Posting End Date: 04-JUN-2025. The position is temporary, starting 16-JUN-2025, ending 31-JAN-2026, with a part-time FTE of 0.50. The role is based at Kingsway Mall and involves shifts on days off on Saturday and Sunday.
