Job summary

Canfor Green Energy in Grande Prairie, AB is seeking a Certified Welder to join our maintenance team. Use your Red Seal expertise to weld and repair sawmill machinery, maintain conveyors, rollers, and bearings, and ensure safe, reliable operation.

You will perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance, fabricate metal components, troubleshoot issues, and uphold safety standards in a heavy industry environment.

Qualifications

• Certified Welder with Red Seal certification preferred for heavy industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Weld and repair structural components of sawmill machinery, including frames, supports, and other metal structures.
• Maintain conveyors, mechanical systems, rollers, bearings, and general equipment.
• Perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance to keep mill operations running safely and efficiently.
• Fabricate metal components or parts as needed for sawmill machinery using welding and cutting equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues, enhance equipment reliability, and implement safe, reliable fixes.

As a Certified Welder, your responsibilities will include:

• Working with a high-performance team dedicated to maintaining conveyors, , mechanical systems, rollers and chains and bearings
• Weld and repair structural components of sawmill machinery, including frames, supports, and other metal structures.
• Keeping our systems running smoothly by performing preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance
• Perform maintenance welding to address wear and tear, ensuring the continued safe and efficient operation of equipment.
• Use welding and cutting equipment to fabricate metal components or parts as needed for sawmill machinery or other equipment.
• Applying your knowledge, skills, and experience to troubleshoot issues, enhance equipment reliability, and implement safe, reliable fixes to keep the mill running.
• Ensure that welding activities comply with industry safety standards and regulations.
• Accountability for assisting in creating a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and site visitors.

For this role, we are looking for candidates who:

• Hold a Red Seal Certification
• Have the physical capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Solid background in heavy industry, structural welding or service truck
