Job summary

Canfor is hiring a Certified Millwright for our Grande Prairie, AB sawmill. The role involves maintaining mill machinery, performing preventative and reactive maintenance, and troubleshooting to keep operations running smoothly.

The position offers a rotating weekday schedule (two weeks of days, two weeks of afternoons, two weeks of nights) with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Qualified candidates hold a Red Seal Certification and can lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must hold Red Seal Certification.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrate a high degree of urgency.
• Experience in lumber or industrial manufacturing is an asset.
• Experience with welding procedures and equipment reliability is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all mill machinery including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers and chains, bearings, and pneumatic systems.
• Perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance; inspect machinery and equipment for irregularities.
• Assess when to assemble, move, replace, or dismantle machinery with effective time management.
• Troubleshoot issues, improve equipment reliability, and implement safe fixes to keep the mill running.
• Identify and request parts for timely repairs with attention to detail.
• Help create a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and site visitors.
